Lézignan-Corbières

Lézignan-Corbières has become the Corbières region’s own little capital. It was built over the centuries in a circular layout around the medieval fortifications that protected the church. At the edge of the Minervois region, it is a popular base for anyone keen to explore the surrounding area!

A Languedoc-style
town centre

This small town boasts a few interesting features that are worth discovering. In the heart of the town, the Maison Gibert is an old wine estate which was of great importance during the 19th century. Once inside, you’ll discover the main building, the manor house and the main courtyard.

You’ll cross the reception hall, where various events are held, to reach the second part of the building where you’ll visit the vinification cellar (vat room), the workers’ quarters and the stables. The premises straddle the medieval enclosure wall, which can still be seen in the reception area.

Saint-Félix Church

This huge church of southern Gothic style towers over the town. It features 6 chapels. The massive keep-belltower reminds us that the church was part of the town’s fortifications. You can also admire the furniture and gilt-wood statues that come from the nearby Clarisses monastery.

The town-centre alleyways encircle the church and market halls and lead to the boulevards which surround the historical heart.

The Corbières capital

Lézignan-Corbières is also a land of wine estates and winegrowers. The winegrowers’ cooperative has been awarded the status of “20th-century heritage“.

This is where the first winegrowers’ cooperative in Aude was created in 1909! It is an essential place to stop for anyone wishing to discover Corbières wines. It produces a wide range of bottles and bag-in-boxes. The site is accessible to all, thanks to a handy car park with a space set aside for people with disabilities.

Visitors can join a free guided tour which is followed by a tasting session.
A tasting facility has been set up in the “Belle Epoque” cellar with its row of monumental wine vats. Besides wine, it also showcases a selection of local products of Languedoc.
The vinification cellar created in 1909 is outstanding, with its metal structure designed by Eiffel!
