Description
Legendary artist Ben Harper is back at the Festival de Carcassonne, still alongside The Innocent Criminals, on July 25, 2025, for a new exceptional and intimate evening.
Ben Harper is one of the best singer-songwriters of his generation. He is also one of the most versatile and courageous singer-songwriters, not hesitating to work in a range of genres from pop to reggae and soul, through blues, rock, funk, and folk. He has recorded 18 studio albums and gained worldwide fame by selling over 16 million records worldwide and winning three Grammy Awards (Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album, Best Pop Instrumental Performance, and Best Blues Album). Ben was born on October 28, 1969. If his music and career embody the sonic bravery, lyrical brilliance, and social activism of that pivotal era, Harper adds his unique cultural consciousness of the modern era, bringing music with social awareness into the present, as evidenced by his 2023 nomination for the brand new Grammy Special Merit Award for Best Song for Social Change. In 2022, Harper gave a series of 12 sold-out concerts at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, with successful singer Harry Styles. The duo had already collaborated on Harry Styles’ Grammy-winning album “Harry’s House.” Ben notably played guitar on the track “Boyfriends.” He has written songs for Mavis Staples, Natalie Maines, Tom Morello, Taj Mahal, Rickie Lee Jones, Charlie Musselwhite, Solomon Burke, and The Blind Boys of Alabama. He has recorded in the studio with Harry Styles, Keith Richards, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, John Lee Hooker, Ringo Starr, and Ziggy Marley (to name a few) and performed in concert with Pearl Jam, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Harry Styles, and many others. Harper’s latest album, “Wide Open Light,” was released in June 2023 and includes “Yard Sale,” a duet with Jack Johnson. It follows the album “Bloodline Maintenance,” which was nominated for a Grammy Award for its political and personal revelations, fearlessness, and soulfulness.
