Description

The oppidum was founded in the last quarter of the 6th century or at the turn of the 5th century BC. The site was selected for 3 advantages: shaped like spur creating a barrage, it was easy to defend in case of attack; the proximity to the Etangs de Bages and Sigean that were connected to the sea and navigable at the time; finally, Via Herculea passed nearby, crossing a ford on the Berre on its way to the site.
Guided tour of the Musée des Corbières et Oppidum only Wednesday morning from April to October and Saturday morning from November to March.
